Remaking F/SN: The Illya and Sakura Routes (Part 2)

It is somewhat common knowledge among the Fate fandom (and the larger Nasuverse fandom) that Fate/stay night originally had several routes, each focusing on a different heroine. The final product only has three (one for Saber, one for Rin and one for Sakura), but Nasu considered several other routes for Medusa, Medea, and even a new Servant named Tachie, who occupied the Shielder class. However, the most sought-after route is also the one that got farthest in the planning stages: the Illya route.

Illya has been a fan-favorite ever since the original VN was released back in 2004, and now that Heaven’s Feel finally got adapted and audiences worldwide could experience the finale to Fate/stay night, a route focused on this silver-haired heroine has become a hot topic. The original author of Fate/stay night, Kinoko Nasu, has clarified that Fate and UBW would have worked as the “main story,” but then the basic formula and rules of those stories would have been flipped on their head in Heaven’s Feel and Illya’s route. The Illya route would have diverged from Day 9 of Heaven’s Feel, specifically the iconic scene where Shirou chases Sakura in the rain. He would get a choice to become a hero for Sakura, as depicted in Heaven’s Feel, or a hero for Illya, as depicted in her route. However, he ended up cutting the route because it would’ve delayed production by six months.

Six months sounds like a pretty small amount of time to write an entire goddamn route, but we have to remember, this splits from Heaven’s Feel on Day 9. That means about half of the route is exactly the same for both Illya and Sakura, and since those first nine days are mostly just setup for the rest of the route (with True Assassin going on a killing spree, Saber getting corrupted, etc.), it stands to reason that the climaxes of the two routes could’ve played out similarly. No wonder it was absorbed into Sakura’s route.

In any event, this structure feels heavily reminiscent of Tsukihime. In Tsukihime, the first two routes focus on Arcueid and Ciel, and they are collectively known as the Near Side routes; those routes are both about fighting vampires in the town of Misaki. While they work as complete stories for the most part, they raise lots of questions about Shiki, Akiha, Roa and their past. Those questions are then answered in the next three routes (focusing on Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku), which have their own distinct aesthetic and narrative pace, and they are grouped together as the Far Side Routes; each of these routes dedicate a large amount of time to unraveling the questions that were raised beforehand.

This structure also reminds me of another visual novel series: Higurashi: When They Cry, a series of eight visual novels released between 2002 and 2006. Higurashi is focused on a town caught in a time loop, so each of the eight VNs begin the same way but end differently—much like the routes of stay night and Tsukihime. The first four novels are referred to as the “Question Arcs,” raising questions for the reader about the town of Hinamizawa, but those aren’t addressed until the final four novels, which are referred to as the “Answer Arcs.” Taken as a whole, Saber and Rin’s routes were essentially planned as the “Question Arcs” of Fate/stay night, or in other words, the Near Side of the VN. Then, Illya and Sakura’s routes would’ve been the “Answer Arcs,” or in other words, the Far Side.

I wanted to flesh out the VNs potential Far Side and separate Illya and Sakura’s routes, but I quickly realized that “separating” Illya and Sakura’s routes was all but impossible. Both of them are crucial to the Heaven’s Feel we ended up with, and trying to split that route apart would leave us with two unsatisfying halves. So, rather than trying to split apart Heaven’s Feel, I’m just making an all-new Illya route from the ground up.

I find that Heaven’s Feel actually makes more sense as a title for Illya’s route, given that the Third Magic once belonged to the Einzberns. Thus, I am giving that name to Illya’s route and renaming Sakura’s route to Spring Song. This was the title of the third ufotable movie for Sakura’s route, and it perfectly ties into Sakura’s wish to see the cherry trees bloom in the spring. Sakura even means “cherry,” and much like how spring marks a rebirth after the death of plantlife in the winter, this route will mark Sakura’s rebirth into a new person after she escapes her abuse. Throughout the remainder of this essay, I will use Heaven’s Feel to refer to a hypothetical Illya route and Spring Song to refer to the events of the Sakura route we ended up getting.

Stipulations and Variables:

To write an Illya route, I need to figure out a few variables.

  1. How is a new route going to factor into the route order? We know for sure Illya’s route will be part of the Far Side of Fate/stay night, but will it come before or after Sakura’s?

  1. What is Saber’s role in the route? Saber is handicapped in a number of ways across the franchise, and it stands to reason that something similar will have to occur to make this narrative work.

  1. What kind of ending are we aiming for with Illya? Will it be a tragic bittersweet ending where she perishes due to her homunculus body, akin to Saber’s ending in Fate? Or an ending where she lives happily, akin to Rin and Sakura in the True Ends of UBW and SS?

  1. What role will Berserker play? Should he live or die? The Servant of each route’s heroine usually plays a large role, so it stands to reason we’d want him to play some sort of significant role. But Berserker is tricky to write, as he’s far stronger than most of the normal Servants but far weaker than entities like the Shadow, Gilgamesh and Saber Alter.

  1. What is Sakura’s role in Illya’s route? Will she be a minor supporting character, or an antagonist like in the end of Spring Song?

  1. Will the narrative reveal the truth of Sakura: that she is Rin’s sister, a Master, and the source of the Shadow?

  1. Who will the villains be? Fate/stay night is really good about not repeating antagonists between the routes unless they have a very different role to play. Fate’s main antagonists are Rider, Shinji, Illya, Berserker, Kotomine and Gilgamesh. UBW’s main antagonists are Caster, Kuzuki, Assassin, Archer and Gilgamesh. SS’s main antagonists are True Assassin, Zouken, Saber Alter and Dark Sakura, with Kotomine serving as a final encounter. That’s almost every Master and Servant in the Fifth Grail War, and that doesn’t leave us with much room for new antagonists in. However, we could potentially create a new Mage antagonist just for this route, much like how Zouken only appears in SS

No matter what my answer is to those questions, I have a few more stipulations for Illya’s route.

  • Any information about Illya’s background that we can find should be incorporated here, and this includes her summoning of Berserker (as seen in Episode 15 of the UBW ufotable anime).

  • With Illya as the main heroine, Kiritsugu’s past and his rivalry with Kotomine should be major plot points. Kotomine telling Shirou all about Kiritsugu’s past should be taken out of Sakura’s route and reserved for this route.

  • We have to learn more about Berserker. The Illya route is the obvious place to do that, and I think it would be great if this route allowed Illya and Shirou to understand him a bit. Perhaps they form some sort of telepathic bond with him that lets them hear his thoughts?

  • Berserker should also get more good fights in the story. Much like how Rider goes all out in SS and Archer does the same in UBW, Illya’s route should be where Berserker truly shows his strength and goes all out against an opponent, perhaps even winning a few times.

  • Shirou needs to develop a unique set of abilities to differentiate him from his other versions. Fate Shirou uses limited projection but becomes a good close-ranged fighter using Saber’s techniques. UBW Shirou relies heavily on overwhelming opponents with projection and using Archer’s techniques. SS Shirou relies on superhuman speed, strength and reflex but only a finite amount of projections. This Shirou needs to develop his own style that will make the fight scenes feel different.

  • As I explained in my essay “Fate/stay night: A Retrospective,” I go over a recurring motif where Shirou grows to resemble the primary Servants of each route. He becomes more like Saber in Fate, Archer in UBW and Rider in SS. Shirou of this route needs to become more like Berserker.

  • Much like how UBW and SS work to create a sense of hopelessness by distancing Shirou from Rin, this route should do the same. After UBW showed some of Rin’s ruthlessness, I think this route should double down on that personality trait to make Rin’s antagonism towards Sakura in the next route more believable. However, even though Rin will be more ruthless, Archer will not. Archer is barely a character in SS, and while that makes sense thematically, it would be great to show Archer reacting with more fondness to this Shirou as opposed to hating his UBW counterpart.

Possible Narratives:

Now, when constructing a possible Illya route, there are a few distinct narratives we could go with:

Option A: This is the only option where Illya’s route takes place before Sakura’s. It would be slower paced as we dive into the Einzbern family mysteries, building up dread and suspense in preparation of Sakura’s route. The main problem with this route is that, since we can’t use the Matous, we have almost no characters who could be good villains, let alone final villains. Our only options would be to introduce new villains (such as Old Man Acht from Zero), reuse old characters (Kotomine, Gilgamesh, Rin, Archer, etc.), or repurpose miscellaneous Servants into Alters (like Lancer, Assassin, etc.).

Option B: This option is meant to be experienced after Sakura’s. It adapts the events of Oath Under Snow into the main continuity, and in the process, takes some ideas from Nasu’s original plans. Shirou summons Saber, but she’s never taken by the Shadow. Shinji attacks the school, Sakura loses control she is revealed as Rider’s Master. From there, Shirou vows to become a hero for Illya, not Sakura—and this entails helping her finish the Holy Grail War. Without Shirou to stop her, Rin kills Sakura but goes mad with grief. (To use Tsukihime as an example, this parallels Akiha killing SHIKI but becoming the antagonist of Kohaku’s arc.) Shirou and Illya tear through the competition, working together to defeat everyone else, including the villains of the previous route. At the end, a grief-stricken Rin and Archer emerge as the final opponents, with Rin desperately trying to get the Grail to resurrect her sister.

Option C: Option C is basically Spring Song 2: Electric Boogaloo, keeping the tone, horror and major set pieces of Spring Song, but switching around a few key participants. To fit the fact that this is Illya’s route and not Sakura’s, Rider and Berserker switch places, with Rider dying earlier and Berserker aiding in the final battle; likewise, Saber and Lancer switch places, with Saber dying in the beginning of the story and Lancer becoming an Alter. Archer loses an arm, but instead of giving it to Shirou to boost his magecraft, Shirou uses either an Einzbern Mystic Code or a new Zelretch artifact to get a boost in power. Sakura would snap earlier than in SS, but to juxtapose Shirou saving her in SS, she would die in HF, either by Shirou killing her or Sakura killing herself to bring down the Holy Grail and Angra Mainyu. If you can’t tell, this option would be a tragedy, with Illya dying not long afterwards due to her failing homunculus body.

Option D: This is meant to be experienced after Sakura’s route, and it’s a more optimistic narrative that attempts to give closure to Illya without neglecting Sakura, akin to fanfics like Chaos Theory, akin to the Chaos Theory fanfiction. This time, Caster gets corrupted and turned into an Alter during the Ryuudou Temple fight, and she uses Rule Breaker to kidnap Saber. Shirou and Illya team up to rescue Saber, and Saber forms a new contract with Illya. (With Saber back on the heroes’ side, Caster Alter steps up as the “mid-boss” of the route.) Investigating what turned Caster, the main characters learn about Sakura’s condition, which in turn brings them to Rin and the reveal that she is Sakura’s sister. Gilgamesh could play a role in this, perhaps perishing in a three-way battle with Saber, Archer and/or Berserker. I think it’ll be best if Caster Alter, Zouken, Kotomine and maybe Dark Sakura are the main villains. With her dying breath, Caster Alter uses Rule Breaker to free Sakura from Angra Mainyu. I like this option because it feels like a proper ending to the entire Far Side by freeing Sakura and allowing Illya to live. Plus, we get a new theme with Shirou’s ideals! If Sakura’s route has Shirou reject his ideals, this route can have Shirou reject his ideals only to reconsider them and take them up later after saving Saber.

In Options A, B and D, Berserker will die early on (either to an Alter, Gilgamesh or the Shadow itself), Shirou’s contract with Saber is nullified by Caster using Rule Breaker. Shirou will get a power boost when Illya uses the Third Magic to connect his soul to Archer’s, giving him mastery over Projection. This gives Shirou the strength to rescue Saber, and she forges a new contract with Illya. Options A, B and D will all have slower moments of character development where Saber, Shirou and Illya all discuss Kiritsugu, his impact on their lives and his ideals.

Option A Overview:

With this proposal, Illya’s route will occur between Rin and Sakura’s route, and that will bleed into the tone, themes and basic story beats. Illya’s route should have some of the action of UBW and some of the horror of SS, without delving too much into either. Thus, the pacing should be close to SS without being quite so tense and psychological. The Shadow should still make an appearance and kill some of the Servants, but it won’t play as much of a role, and it can’t be too obviously connected to Sakura.

I don’t want to reuse any antagonists unless they have a radically different role to play, and I have to save Zouken, Saber Alter, True Assassin and Dark Sakura for Sakura’s route; so that limits my options. The Fifth Holy Grail War has 9 Servants and 9 Masters participating, and most get a chance to properly fight Shirou and Saber throughout the VN. Taking that into consideration, we have a few options.

  1. Rin Tohsaka. I know Rin and Shirou have a scuffle in the school in UBW, but I don’t think that I can count that as Rin being an antagonist. She’s opposing Shirou, sure, but her heart is not really in it, and she was only pushed to fight Shirou when Archer (bearing his own grudge against the mage) egged Rin on. In UBW, Archer is more of a villain than Rin ever was. Seeing as Illya and Rin are enemies for most of the first two routes, I think a route where Illya is the heroine would be a great chance for Shirou and Rin to actually oppose one-another for a prolonged period of time. This won’t be permanent, but Rin and Shirou fighting early in the route can be a good way to build drama.

  1. Lancer and Bazett. Yes, I know Lancer kills Shirou in the beginning of all three stories, but more often than not, he actually serves as an ally or just anticlimactically dies. I think this is a missed opportunity, and since Bazett is his Master in my remake, he and Bazett are going to be major antagonists. Plus, this fits well with our decision to make Rin an antagonist. Lancer agrees to help so much in UBW because of his infatuation with Rin, and he just ends up helping Shirou by proxy, so if Rin is against Shirou, Lancer would have no problem fighting Shirou and Saber as well.

  1. The Shadow. It will only appear a handful of times, and unlike in Sakura’s route, she will never be designated as the source of the Shadow. But it does appear in a few crucial moments, mainly to ramp up the tension of several action sequences. Acht recognizes it as a byproduct of the Third Grail War, and he seeks to control it.

  1. Assassin (Alter). Not the True Assassin Zouken summons, I’m talking about Sasaki Kojiro. He plays a bit of a role in UBW as an adversary for Saber, giving her a small arc where she has to overcome her limits and better herself as a swordsman; but we still know so little about Sasaki. It would be great to delve into that, and one way could be by having him get corrupted and turned into an Alter.

  1. Kotomine. As the one who killed Irisviel and who tried many times to kill Kiritsugu, it feels fitting that Kotomine is a major villain in Illya’s route. His role will be toned down in Sakura’s route as a result, but he will be the final adversary for Shirou to face in both routes.

  1. Old Man Acht. Much like how Zouken exclusively appeared in SS as an antagonist, I think the same can be true for Acht in this route. I’m reinterpreting Acht as more of a control freak, who attempts to manipulate Illya for his ambitions to win the Grail War, much like Zouken manipulated Sakura in her route.

I used Tsukihime as an example earlier, and I want to go back to that. Tsukihime was pretty laser-focused on the Tohno route, so its Far Side is all about the Tohno’s, but Fate/stay night has three families of mages. The Far Side is all about the darkness under Fate/stay night’s initial premise, but who’s to say all that darkness has to come from the Matous? That’s why this route has Acht as a main villain. Option A would focus on the machinations of the Einzbern clan to draw a parallel to the Matous machinations in Spring Song

Option B Overview:

From here on out, every other Option relies on knowledge of Spring Song, which opens up our storytelling possibilities tremendously, and Option B is probably the best possibility overall. It adapts one of the franchise’s best movies into the world of Fate/stay night, it follows a precedent set by Tsukihime, and it even adheres to Nasu’s original plans—albeit, Nasu wanted the first nine days of HF and SS to be identical, whereas here, HF’s first days will not feature Saber getting kidnapped.

When every other route has used larger-than-life villains, it feels fitting that Option B has Rin and Archer (the two characters we are introduced to first) as the final antagonists. After Spring Song delivers a story where these guys all work together, it’s just so interesting to imagine a route where all of these allies turn on one-another, and I can see these bitter rivalries really forming the backbone of the story.

I can imagine this story so well. Shirou, Saber and Illya all slowly unravel the mysteries of Angra Mainyu, but it’s too late; Rin has already convinced herself that the Grail can be used to bring back Sakura, and she’s not backing down until she gets it. Rin would be almost comparable to Kariya Matou of Fate/Zero, her good intentions to save Sakura slowly warping until she’s obsessed with defeating Illya.

Kotomine, Zouken, Gil and True Assassin are still wild cards I’d have to work out, but it's honestly not impossible to imagine them getting taken out of the picture, especially when we factor in Berserker’s early presence in the story, Shirou’s power boost, Saber’s power boost after bonding with Illya, and Archer’s Unlimited Blade Works. Honestly, the only real problem I find with Option B is that it’s a horribly depressing ending for our other Far Side heroine, Sakura.

Option C Overview:

This is the version I initially went with. To summarize it broadly: Lancer gets taken by the Shadow like in SS, but he’s corrupted and turned into an Alter instead of merely absorbed. He shows up to fight Saber shortly thereafter and kills her. Afterwards, Shinji attacks the school with his bounded field, but Illya and Berserker come to Shirou’s aid, with Berserker killing Kuzuki, Rider and Caster, but Caster places a curse on Berserker that limits his mana output. Rin, Archer, Shirou, Illya and Berserker form an alliance to defeat Lancer Alter; along the way, they start researching spells to heal Berserker and boost Shirou’s Projection with an Einzbern Mystic Code. A three-way battle between Archer, Gilgamesh and Lancer Alter ends with the former two dead.

By the time the group figures out how to cure Berserker (who’s lost most of his lives by this point), Sakura snaps and kidnaps Illya. Like in SS, Shirou gets Kotomine’s help saving her, but Shirou fights against a blackened Rider instead of a blackened Berserker. The climax plays out like Spring Song, but with Berserker and Shirou vs Lancer Alter as Rin fights Sakura. Sakura kills Rin at the end and, in her grief, brings the entire Holy Grail and Angra Mainyu down on her.

I liked this version initially, but it has ton of weaknesses. For starters, it doesn’t do anything new with Shirou’s character, it just rehashes SS’s arc. And actually, that’s a microcosm of this option as a whole: it just rehashes old events in a sadder way. Plus, by switching around key

The biggest problem has to do with Dark Sakura being the final villain again. Dark Sakura is both an incredibly powerful character, but also an incredibly unique character, who only rose about in SS due to a unique chain of events specific to that route. Using Dark Sakura again forces us to follow a lot of the same narrative beats as SS (we need an Alter antagonist, we need the heroine’s Servant to survive and oppose that Alter, etc.). Plus, Dark Sakura’s fate is unsatisfying either way. Either she’s killed (which is frustrating if we know she could’ve been saved) or she’s saved (which is redundant since she was already saved and the route isn’t even about her).

Plus, by switching Saber out of the story, we’ve basically screwed ourselves over. Illya can’t get a happy ending without Avalon to keep her homunculus body together.

Option D Overview:

I came to this idea because I wanted to find a way to have Sakura be happy without just reusing the plot points of Spring Song. Like Options B and C, Option D would occur after Spring Song, which would allow us to discuss plot points about the Matous more freely.

In this proposal, Caster will be corrupted by the Shadow and turned into Caster Alter. Like in Options A and B, she uses Rule Breaker to kidnap Saber, and while Saber is gone, Berserker is killed. Shirou and Illya use the Third Magic to connect his soul to Archer’s, and he uses his resulting mastery of Projection to create a new Mystic Code for Illya.

The main distinction here is that Caster Alter sticks around as a major villain, effectively taking the role of Saber Alter. I feel confident in this change, since Caster Alter is hypothetically powerful enough to rival the likes of Berserker and maybe even Gilgamesh. But best of all, her relationship with Sakura and Illya would advance all of their character arcs. They are all tools of Angra Mainyu and they have all been mistreated by powerful self-centered men. Caster’s realization about this fact may cause her to use Rule Breaker on herself, Sakura or both.

At this point, Caster Alter would be more-or-less a free agent, mucking around in Zouken, True Assassin, Kotomine and Gilgamesh’s plans—and simultaneously exposing those plans to our heroes. This creates the potential for a fascinating battle royale between four factions: our heroes, Kotomine + Gil, Zouken + Assassin, and Caster Alter.

This option has a ton of strengths. It does reuse a villain (Caster), but in a vastly different way that organically connects herself to Sakura and our heroine, so that actually feels more like a strength than a weakness. It opens up the room for both Illya and Sakura to get closure, and having Caster be a rogue agent actively trying to prevent Angra Mainyu’s summoning is a fresh new direction for a villain to take, plus it forces all our previous villains into the spotlight.

My only problem with this is that I feel like it becomes a bit too much like Chaos Theory, and let me explain why this concerns me. I love Chaos Theory, but that fic felt more like a fanservice-packed “golden route” rather than a bona fide Illya route. I worry that by focusing on so many villains, I’m going to take away crucial focus from Illya and Shirou’s relationship.

The Qualities of Shirou’s Heroism:

Across the different Fate/stay night routes, Shirou’s personality changes in many ways. The Near Side routes portray him as a dreamer dedicated to his heroism, while the Far Side routes portray him as a realist who’s more focused on protecting his loved ones. Plus, he also changes in how rigid or flexible those ideals are.

In Fate, Shirou is a rigid dreamer, who longs to be a hero but who’s extremely stubborn in how he goes about this. The central conflict of the route comes down to Shirou and Saber both being rigid in their thinking, which causes them conflict since their ideologies both require them to martyr themselves. In the end, Shirou chooses heroism over his love, and allows Saber to fade away so he can be a hero of justice.

In UBW, Shirou is a flexible dreamer. Entering a relationship with Rin and fighting Archer forces Shirou to realize the problems with his dream. The central conflict of the narrative comes down to the friction between Shirou’s dream of being a hero (to save everyone) and Archer’s lived experiences as a hero (which required killing people to endanger others). In the end, though Shirou chooses heroism, he also learns to prioritize Rin.

In SS, Shirou is a flexible realist. Sakura’s complex moral situation causes Shirou to abandon his dream of being a hero to protect her, but his thinking is still flexible enough that he doesn’t ever focus on just Sakura, even if he does prioritize her the most. For instance, he makes sure to take care of Rin and Illya throughout the route as well. The central conflict comes down to Shirou having to choose between his dad’s ideals and his loved one. In the end, Shirou chooses his love, but he also takes time to be a hero in his own way.

Whichever Option I go with, there’s only option left for my HF: a rigid realist, much like he was in OUS. He wants to protect Illya, and he wants to protect just Illya—everyone else he protects is just a side effect of that. Thus, a new central conflict is created: instead of choosing between heroism and his loved ones, he chooses one loved one (Illya) over his other loved ones (Rin, Saber and Sakura).

My Conclusion:

Ultimately, I’ve decided to go with Option B, albeit taking many of the antagonists from Option A. Heaven’s Feel will work as a companion piece to Spring Song: one unravels the Matou family and deals with the fallout of Sakura living, while the other unravels the Einzbern family and deals with the fallout of Sakura’s death. Whereas Spring Song is about choosing loved ones over heroism, this route is about choosing a loved one over your other loved ones. Shirou must first make the choice to choose Illya over Saber, which leads to Saber getting kidnapped by Caster. Then, he chooses to save Illya over Sakura, which leads to Sakura’s death. Finally, he chooses to save Illya over Rin, which leads to him defeating Rin.

Some of the antagonists I mentioned in Option B (namely Assassin Alter, Bazett and Lancer) could all be villains to help pad out the story, and Caster will be an early antagonist to try taking Saber. But honestly, since we’re adapting OUS to a certain point, that means Shirou will be fighting a lot of other Masters and Servants.

Ultimately, the meat of the narrative is going to come down to Illya and Shirou’s relationship. Berserker should die to preserve the tension, but Saber will act as a narrative glue, presenting both a means for Shirou and Illya to fight the competition after Berserker dies; and a means to keep Illya alive via Avalon after the route. As well, Saber can also inform the two siblings about their father. Kiritsugu’s shadow looms heavy over this route, and all three of our protagonists give valuable context about him, with Shirou explaining what Kiritsugu was like after Zero, Saber explaining what he was like during Zero, and Illya explaining what he was like before Zero. In the end, all three of them conclude that, despite his good intentions, Kiritsugu was a flawed man, and they come away with a more nuanced view of him.

Rin, Archer and Kotomine will be the final villains of the narrative. I can imagine a tense battle, where all of them are racing to get Illya to summon the Grail for their own purposes, and Shirou and Saber are frantically trying to fight all of them. The final battle comes down to Shirou defeating Archer, just as he did in UBW

Meanwhile, Option D will be repurposed into a new “golden route,” called Synthesized Dreams. I’ve done some work for this already, but as the name implies, this golden route will attempt to give closure to all four heroines (Saber, Illya, Sakura and Rin), and it will loosely combine events from each of their routes. Synthesized Dreams will also come along with Origin Alteration, a new route where Shirou becomes more like Kiritsugu; and Arcanic Attachments, a new route where Caster becomes Shirou’s Servant instead of Saber.
